On to Baby

Before I started this blog, I was a wedding planner for six years.  I have mentioned that before, but will do so again so this post makes more sense in case you didn’t know that fact.

Before I had kids it was an awesome career. Then 4 years into my business, I had my first baby and had NO clue how my life would be turned upside down {in a good way!}

I could no longer take phone calls at a whim, and in case you didn’t know, every bride’s call is very urgent {I am joking, but not really.} I couldn’t be readily available for meetings at a moment’s notice and the 13 hour event days away from my baby were hard.  Not to mention stressing about finding a break in the timeline to find a semi-discreet to place to pump!

Isn’t it funny how your idea of life with a baby before kids can differ so drastically with REALITY?  I had visions of my angelic newborn sleeping next to my desk in a bouncer chair and being able to conduct business as normal.  That still makes me laugh.

So, about 3 years ago, I was contemplating trying to get pregnant again and I realized my wedding planning days were probably going to be numbered and I was ready to move on.  But what was going to be next?

It was at that same time when two of my friends in the wedding business were starting a wedding blog called The Wedding Chicks.  One day I was sitting with Amy, co-creator of The Wedding Chicks, talking about her (then) new blog and gushing over how much I LOVED it.  I loved the design, simplicity, eye candy, everything.  I told her, I wish I could create a blog like yours for OC moms.

She said, “why don’t you?” And the rest was history.

I  have a very fond place in my heart for the Chicks for giving me the confidence and inspiration to start Tiny Oranges.

Their blog has now become so huge I am able to say, “I knew them when.”  It’s amazing what they have accomplished in 3 years.

Recently Amy and I had lunch to catch up and she told me about an exciting new project that I am so excited to share with you all.

What do women do after “happily ever after?”  They move On to Baby, their new blog dedicated to all things lovely for mom & baby!

So once again, The Wedding Chicks, along with their fabulous editor, Susie,  have sprinkled their magic blog dust over this new project, and once again, I am swooning.

The site is is filled with amazing party and shower ideas (in their delicious eye candy way), amazing nursery decor, free printables, a shop and so much more.

You will love this blog! Bookmark it, subscribe, follow them on Twitter and Facebook.

Gets my wheels turning once again on what my next blog will be…Tiny Tweens? 🙂

    Thanks for sharing – just looked at the blog and I LOVE it! I also love that before you had Emma, you thought you would continue working with a sleeping baby in the bouncer letting you get all you needed to done. Before I had a baby, I used to tell people that I planned to write a book during the baby’s 1st year. The moms I told were very kind not to roll their eyes at me, but you know they probably had a good laugh about it later. Hope you are doing well!

    Thank you so much for this. It brought tears to my eyes because it is hard for us planners scheduling life around someone else’s happy ending..
