Obsession: Chobani Greek Yogurt

I think I have been watching too much Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen because I have been saying “I am obsessed with…” so much lately that my husband now asks me Andy-style, “what three things are you obsessed with this week?” Any other Real Housewives and Andy fans out there with me??

So my latest obsession is Chobani Non-fat Greek Yogurt. Let me explain why.

Having gestational diabetes with my second pregnancy was the best thing that could have happened to me. At the time it wasn’t, but in retrospect it absolutely was. Even today, three years later, I still eat a modified diabetes diet, which entails eating 5 times a day: three small meals and two small snacks. I also never let myself go more than 3 hours without eating something to keep my blood sugar stable. Eating this way has been great for my metabolism and gives me energy (which is important when you are a mom!)

I now eat by the clock more than when I feel hungry. Because I keep myself from getting starving, it keeps me from overeating at the next meal. And when you have blood sugar issues, eating a lot at one time is not good.

So I have a snack two times a day – mid-morning like 10am ish and mid-afternoon around 3pm ish. For snacks, I make sure I have at least 7g of protein and under 30g of carbs which is why I was so thrilled to discover Chobani Non-fat Greek Yogurt.

It is easy to grab because it is an individual serving and I love the different fruit flavors. It is sooooo creamy & yummy it almost feels like a treat! Sometimes I also sprinkle a tad of granola in it to give it a little crunch. Ohhhhh so good!

The yogurts are only around 140 calories each depending on flavor and have, are you ready for this? They have 14g of protein and only 20g carbs! So, they have 2 x the protein which makes for a fabulous snack because it will keep you full until your next meal. They also contain 3 types of probiotics which are so good for the system.

I buy mine at Sprouts or Ralphs. I stock up when they are on sale. They also make Chobani Champions which is the 1st greek yogurt for kids, but I have yet to find it in a store. If anyone finds it or has seen it in a store, can you comment?

Couldn’t be a bigger fan of Chobani. Seriously. L-O-V-E! You will too!

[Nothing to disclose in this post, I wish I was sponsored by Chobani, as I would be the greatest brand ambassador ever because you won’t get a more passionate fan!]

I LOVE Chobani too, even though I am not sure I know how to properly pronounce it, ha ha.
I found that most Greek yogurts are either too tart or too sweet. And the “old school” fruit on the bottom yogurt is WAAAAYYYY to sweet for me. Chobani has the right balance of sweetness and a little tartness and it does keep me full longer than any other 140 calorie item.
My favorite is the peach 🙂

Hi Jen-  I read that you loved Chobani!  It’s on sale for $1.00 at Sprouts this week.  Be sure to get a raincheck if they are out!  Also, if you got the weekly SPROUTS flyer last tuesday in your  mail, there’s a $10 off coupon when you spend $50.  They do have flyers in the store, however, they don’t have the coupon.
