Because There is Simply No Time to be Sick

One day I was chatting with a mommy friend during our daughter’s gymnastics class about dreading the cold and flu season when she told me about an at home apple cider vinegar cold remedy she swears by. I kept this info tucked in the back of my head for the next time a cold struck.
It seems like the past few years I have picked up every cold and virus my kids have come home with, so this year, I am fighting back because there is no time to be sick when you are a mom. (However, if you do get sick, please remember this post about the importance of taking a mommy sick day!!)
Back to this cold remedy. So there we were, two weeks into school when both my girls got that stuffy nose, cough thing that seems to always show up around this time. Then a few days later I felt the scratchy throat come on along with feeling lethargic and pretty crappy all around. NOOOOOO!
I sent my gymnastics mommy friend an SOS text to give me her remedy, which is as follows:
Apple Cider Vinegar Cold Remedy
1. Heat a big mug of hot water (like you were making a hot tea)
2. Add 1 TBSP apple cider vinegar. She recommends the Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar.
3. Add enough honey to make it drinkable.
Over the course of that first day, I drank 3 drinks total, one about every 4 hours. The first drink tasted pretty strong, but I added enough honey to make it sweeter for the next one. After awhile, I got used to it and it was like drinking apple cider. It also helped my throat.
No joke, within a few hours after the 2nd drink, I was feeling better, and by the next morning, I almost felt 100% and I never got the cold!!!
I cannot know for sure if this is was did it, but I sure as heck am going to try it again if I feel a cold coming on. Incidentally, I have also started taking an Omega-3 supplement and a daily probiotic, so I don’t know if those in combination with the drink did the trick. Time will tell.
I wanted to pass on this tip because being sick when you are a mom is the worst. Of course, I am not a doctor, so do your own research on apple cider vinegar as a home remedy to see what you find and ask your doctor first.
Anyone else ever tried this? Or, have any other at home natural cold remedies you try for yourself?
