Orange County Swim Lessons for Kids

SwimLabs opened for business last week in Lake Forest offering Orange County swim lessons for kids, but I can almost guarantee you have never seen a swim school like this before!

They are offering a Grand Opening special for Tiny Oranges readers: get 20% off any package or set of lessons purchased now through 10/31/13.

It’s such an awesome deal, I am going to buy a set of lessons for both of my girls!

SwimLabs Lake Forest Facility

Last week I took my own tiny orange down to check it out and experience a swim lesson first hand. I was a little perplexed at first by the location in a nice business center off Bake Parkway, because I wouldn’t have visualized a swim school there. I was even more surprised to walk into their beautiful, spacious facility, which held a modern waiting area with three SwimLabs pools behind glass doors.

The waiting area is made with the comfort of parents in mind. It has a nice set of chairs, Wifi, three big screen TV’s for you to watch your kids, a coffee station, and even a play area for little siblings.

Going into the winter months (or as winter as we get in SoCal), SwimLabs is a great option for Orange County swim lessons for kids given its cozy indoor setting with 85-90 degree heated pools to avoid chattering lips on little ones.

There are also showers and changing rooms so you can bring a change of clothes and have your kiddos walk out with the shower out of the way.

Go Under the Sea with Kids Club!

mall Kids Club

National Geographic Kids Club is sponsoring FREE monthly educational events this fall at the Los Cerritos Center, one of their Mall Kids Club events held at select malls nationwide. I took my girls to the September event and we all had so much fun!

The Kids Club events are held held from 11am – 12pm in front of Forever 21 at the Los Cerritos Center. If you are new to that mall, there is an outside entrance to Forever 21 and then it’s an easy walk through the store to the event location outside the Forever 21 entrance in the main mall.

No reservations are required. Just show up ready to have a good time, then grab lunch with the family afterwards at any one of Los Cerritos Center’s dining spots. At the September event we were even given coupons to CPK!

The people at National Geographic have done a phenomenal job putting together these events. Every person working the event went out of their way to make sure the kids were enjoying it to the fullest. Here are some of my pics from the Under the Sea September event…

DIY Halloween Wreath You’ll Go Batty For

Bat Wreath for Halloween

Last week my friend Laurie of Go Hobo had a couple girlfriends over to make these adorable DIY Halloween wreaths to celebrate the upcoming spooky season.

I never have considered myself a crafty person, but something like this is so easy to make! Laurie had myself and another friend over to make them with our kids, so we sat around and chatted while we crafted and the kids played and I can’t believe how therapeutic it is to craft! I am hooked.

Because There is Simply No Time to be Sick

at home natural code remedy

One day I was chatting with a mommy friend during our daughter’s gymnastics class about dreading the cold and flu season when she told me about an at home apple cider vinegar cold remedy she swears by. I kept this info tucked in the back of my head for the next time a cold struck.

It seems like the past few years I have picked up every cold and virus my kids have come home with, so this year, I am fighting back because there is no time to be sick when you are a mom. (However, if you do get sick, please remember this post about the importance of taking a mommy sick day!!)

Back to this cold remedy. So there we were, two weeks into school when both my girls got that stuffy nose, cough thing that seems to always show up around this time. Then a few days later I felt the scratchy throat come on along with feeling lethargic and pretty crappy all around. NOOOOOO!

I sent my gymnastics mommy friend an SOS text to give me her remedy, which is as follows:
