Casey McCabe from 97.1FM AMP Radio will be hosting, and you can expect live dance performances by multiple local dance schools and professional groups of various cultures and styles throughout the event.
You will also be able to get dance and fitness fashion tips, take interactive dance classes and demos, and enjoy samples from health-focused vendors.
National Dance Day
National Dance Day was was launched in 2010 by So You Think You Can Dance co-creator Nigel Lythgoe as a grassroots campaign to encourage Americans to embrace dance as a fun and positive way to maintain good health and combat obesity.
I have been faithfully watching So You Think You Can Dance since season 1, and as a person who danced from childhood – all the way through college – I love the concept of National Dance Day. It is such a positive way to promote being healthy and fit in a fun way.
National Dance Day was first celebrated at Los Cerritos Center in 2011 with a Zumba flash mob (I have never actually seen a flash mob in person, but am determined to do so) that started an on-going Zumba fitness program at the center the following year.
On a side note, if you haven’t tried Zumba, I highly recommend it…it’s truly for all ages and all levels..and a blast! Zumba classes are available for $5 per class in the mall in front of Forever 21 every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9-10 a.m. No RSVP is required.
Los Cerritos Center
Los Cerritos Center is located in the mid-section of the Los Angeles/Orange County metropolitan area just off the 605 Freeway at South Street, and across from the Cerritos Auto Square.
We hope to see you there for this family fun event!
