Are you pregnant?  Or know someone that is?

If yes, you have to know about this Knocked-Up Fitness Workshop for mamas-to-be hosted by Erica Ziel of Knocked-Up Fitness coming up on Sunday, October 7th, 2012 from 9am – 1pm at Body Design in Newport Beach.

Erica is a local OC mom of three and an expert personal trainer specializing in fitness-infused Pilates with vast experience in pre and post-natal fitness as well as nutrition.

The idea for the workshop actually came about from her prenatal clients.

At her prenatal Pilates sessions, Erica would find herself sharing information on many girlfriend-to-girlfriend pregnancy topics with candor.  These mamas-to-be begged her to think about hosting a workshop where women could feel comfortable sharing about pregnancy with the goal of walking out feeling more confident and ready to take on motherhood.

The cost is $295, but if you register by Sunday, 9/23 you can get a special price of $250 which includes a snack, lunch and a goodie bag filled with these items (and more):

For all my pregnant mamas, new mamas, someday might be pregnant mamas, or just want to get in shape mamas, I am thrilled to share with you two amazing prenatal fitness DVD’s recently released by Erica Ziel of Knocked-Up Fitness!

Prenatal Pilates-Infused Fitness

This DVD includes a new (highly effective!) method designed to keep expecting moms active and fit though all stages of pregnancy.

Erica shows moms-to-be how to strengthen and tone key muscle groups while preparing the body for labor, delivery and recovery.

The workout fuses pilates, cardio and conditioning exercises for safe and effective prenatal workouts.

You can even mix and match the 5 different workouts to form your own routine.

Prenatal Core Pilates Workouts

In this DVD, Erica shows moms-to-be how to strengthen deep core muscles safely.

Instead of crunches, she has designed a variety of exercises to specifically target deep core muscles and help support the weight of the baby as well as prepare the body for labor, delivery and recovery.

This workout is a unique mix of core cardio, pilates, yoga and other fitness exercises.

Can’t decide which one to get? Get them both! Buy them as a set, and in addition to a price break, you can will also receive a free exercise band with purchase.

I trained with Erica last year and she is fabulous. Not only is she extremely knowledgable, but her workouts are crazy good!!

Even cuter, Erica herself was pregnant with baby # 3 during the filming of her videos.  As they say, it takes one to know one, so you can be assured that Erica knows exactly how it feels to do her workouts “with child!”

Last summer, I was 6 months into my new running regimen and was training for my second half marathon in October. For months all I did was run.  A lot.  And at 35, my body was feeling it. I was definitely not 18 anymore. After my long runs I would get a sore hip, feel little pains and my muscles felt tight.  I thought it would help me to try to complement my training with Pilates.

I met Erica or rather @CoreAthletica over Twitter last summer.  Gotta love the endless resources and connections I find there!  That’s her in the pictures above.  Yeah, the one with the to-die-for abs and bod.  And, she has two small kids to boot!

She is a personal trainer, pilates instructor and pre and postnatal fitness specialist. Her personal training company is called Core Athletica.  And for you expecting mamas-to-be, she also owns the newly launched Knocked Up Fitness which is (as you probably guessed!) dedicated to prenatal and postnatal fitness.

Click the graphic below to visit her fabulous site, which includes an awesome blog with exercise videos and REAL talk about all things pregnancy and fitness related!

I thought training with Erica would be the best way to get ready for my race, so I had the pleasure of working out with her this past fall.   She trains out of Body Design gym in Newport Beach across from Fashion Island.

GORGEOUS gym….

I took her reformer pilates classes, and although I had done mat pilates classes in the past, this was my first experience working on the reformer.

Here are some of the reformers in a beautiful room with a peek-a-boo view of the ocean…

Her workouts are DYNAMIC! They move fast and for roughly 50 minutes you don’ t get many (rather any) breaks! Plus side is you are never bored!

Combining reformer work, jumpboard (WOWZA – talk about abs/leg/glute toning!), the bosu ball and light weights it truly is a FULL BODY workout.

After my first session with her, I felt muscles in my abs that had been neglected for over 5 years and two pregnancies.  I am not going to lie, it hurt to laugh because every little ab muscle was sore and my glutes were on fire. But I loved it because it felt like it was working!

We worked out at least twice a week and I noticed results FAST.  When I did my long training runs on the weekends, the next day my hip wasn’t sore and my little tweaks of pain went away.

She was able to spot my weak spots and we worked to strengthen those. In my case, I had weak glutes when meant I was compensating in my hips.  So we did a LOT of glute work!  She is super knowledgeable.

I have dabbled in all sorts of workouts throughout the years and to me the workout that has delivered the most results is pilates. Without a doubt.

And Erica is amazing. One time I was lamenting to her with a …”THIS IS SO HARD!” and she smiled sweetly and said, “I know. That’s when you see results.  I watch and see your threshold and then push you just a little more.”

Now I get it!

Every time I walked out of her workout, I felt AMAZING.  It was so hard, but all my muscles felt alive.

The workouts are not cheap but they are worth it.   But wait! Erica is going to give Tiny Oranges readers (first time clients only) some special introductory prices!

This is for either Core Athletica or Knocked Up Fitness clients!

5 small group sessions for $100 ($75 savings)
5 private sessions for $300 ($100 savings)

Contact Erica at erica@coreathletica.com to schedule your session or to ask any questions.
