Top of the morning to you all! Pretend City is hosting it’s 3rd annual Health & Wellness Fair this Saturday, March 17th, 2012 from 9am – 2pm (thus the St. Patty’s Day green!)

The event is FREE for the general public and is a part of a child development initiative called Good to Go From Head to Toe! Click here to view a full size flyer about the event.

The fair will take place outside of Pretend City Museum and will include food, live music, performance by Claddagh Irish Dance Company (FUN!), face painting, giveaways and more.

Plus, every child that participates in at least 3 free screenings will receive a free ticket to Pretend City with purchase of a regular adult admission.

Some of the free screenings include:

* Developmental
* Fine, gross & oral motor skills
* Social / emotional
* Hearing
* Dental
* Orthodontics
* Health & nutrition
* Body Mass Index (BMI)
* Ages & stages developmental questionaires

I happened to be at Pretend City with my two year old one day a couple months back when they were holding a free speech & language screening.  Even though I didn’t have any concerns, it was still fascinating to watch her go through the process and I learned a lot about her speech development at her age.

This outing has been on my list to blog about for a llooonnnngggg time!  I took my girls last summer to the Bowers Kidseum and it was a fabulous OC family outing.

Located in Santa Ana, the Bowers Kidseum is an extension of the Bowers Museum and offers a ton of cultural hands-on experiences for little ones.

From tribal masks to international drums, international dress-up to art labs, kids are encouraged to touch, explore and play all the while learning about different cultures and traditions.

I love a good, fairly inexpensive OC outing that is also educational!

Pretend City Children’s Museum continues their PBS SoCal Days partnership in welcoming Jim Henson’s Dinosaur Train on Sunday, July 31st, 2011.

Buddy the Dinosaur will be at the museum to take pictures with the kids and the new Dinosaur Train movie, “Dinosaur Big City,” which doesn’t air on PBS till the end of August, will be screening throughout the day.

From 10am-3pm a regular child’s admission will come with lots of fun dinosaur themed extras for the kids. From digging for dinosaurs in the Pretend City beach, to making dinosaur art projects in the Art Studio, it will be a fun-filled day that you won’t want to miss.
