My Top Tips for Flying with Toddlers

This post is on my top tips for flying with toddlers.

Summer has arrived in full swing.  And that means some sort of travel for many families.  And flying. With your children. Did anyone else just gulp?

My hubby and I have traveled cross-country with our kiddos, as well as hopped one-hour flights. We’ve been delayed, changed planes twice (hmmm, maybe three times?) in one day, been diverted to different airports, had our luggage lost, and had our kids get sick en route.

I’m knocking on wood somewhere…but I think we’ve seen A LOT when it comes to flying with kiddos.

So, here are some of my top tips for flying with toddlers and preschoolers – I hope they help you and your family this summer!

Our Pacific Edge Getaway: 24 Hours to Recharge

Where to stay in Laguna Beach

Where to Stay in Laguna Beach

Recently my husband and I were invited to sneak away for a little 24 hour getaway to the beautiful Pacific Edge Hotel on the sand in Laguna Beach.

As I was relaxing on a lounge chair their onsite beach attendant set up for us, looking out at the Pacific, I thought, “How lucky are we to LIVE in a place where Laguna Beach is only a short drive away?!”

Pacific Edge Hotel has special meaning to us because we got married there in 2001. I could look up to what is now The Deck restaurant and see the exact spot where we said, “I do.”  And, there we were, 11 years and 2 kids later. A lot of changes have happened since that Fall day.

An Endless Summer at Bacara Resort & Spa

family vacation at Bacara

Next week my family was invited to enjoy a family vacation at Bacara Resort & Spa on the Santa Barbara coast so I can report back with all the property has to offer parents looking for a family-friendly but also luxurious getaway.

Writing about California travel destinations for families is a passion of mine because for So Cal residents, I truly believe you do not have to get on a plane to enjoy a fabulous vacation!

That being said, with the money you will save on air fare, if you are looking for a property to splurge and be pampered, Bacara Resort & Spa is calling your name.

What I love most is that Santa Barbara is just far enough to feel like you are away from it all, yet close enough to be able to get there within a couple hours as to not waste time traveling.

Fiji: It’s Easier Than You Think.

Have you ever considered a family vacation to Fiji?

A friend of mine, Melissa Pomeroy, is an OC Mom to her 2 year old boy Travis and has her own travel agency called Fiji Vacations. Planning a family vacation to Fiji is easier to get to and more affordable than you might think!

Here’s an interesting little Q+A session with Melissa about the Fijian Islands, tips on flying with a little one, and the Bula Spirit.

How did you get your start in Fiji travel?

Answer:  My parents have always been the couple that traveled to exotic remote places and they went on their Honeymoon to Fiji 42 years ago! They fell in love with the people of Fiji and its natural beauty of the islands. For my father, Mike, an avid free diver and waterman, Fiji was ideal for his interests, boasting over 800 species of hard and soft corals it is like an aquarium.

A Family Getaway to Catalina Island

This post is all about fun things to do in Catalina with kids and as it turns out, there are a lot!  My family and I spent Mother’s Day weekend on this cute little island and we had the time of our lives.

The trip was hosted by Catalina Island Vacation Rentals as a result of a blogger contest I won, which included a two-night stay at one of their properties as well as a ride to and from on the Catalina Flyer for our family.  Happy Mother’s Day to ME!

Getting to Catalina Island

We took the morning ferry on Saturday to Catalina from Newport Beach on the Catalina Flyer. The ride over took about one hour and 15 minutes. The ferry ride was lots of fun and…
