Get results FAST with Erica Ziel!

Last summer, I was 6 months into my new running regimen and was training for my second half marathon in October. For months all I did was run.  A lot.  And at 35, my body was feeling it. I was definitely not 18 anymore. After my long runs I would get a sore hip, feel little pains and my muscles felt tight.  I thought it would help me to try to complement my training with Pilates.

I met Erica or rather @CoreAthletica over Twitter last summer.  Gotta love the endless resources and connections I find there!  That’s her in the pictures above.  Yeah, the one with the to-die-for abs and bod.  And, she has two small kids to boot!

She is a personal trainer, pilates instructor and pre and postnatal fitness specialist. Her personal training company is called Core Athletica.  And for you expecting mamas-to-be, she also owns the newly launched Knocked Up Fitness which is (as you probably guessed!) dedicated to prenatal and postnatal fitness.

I thought training with Erica would be the best way to get ready for my race, so I had the pleasure of working out with her this past fall.   She trains out of Body Design gym in Newport Beach across from Fashion Island.

GORGEOUS gym….

I took her reformer pilates classes, and although I had done mat pilates classes in the past, this was my first experience working on the reformer.

Here are some of the reformers in a beautiful room with a peek-a-boo view of the ocean…

Her workouts are DYNAMIC! They move fast and for roughly 50 minutes you don’ t get many (rather any) breaks! Plus side is you are never bored!

Combining reformer work, jumpboard (WOWZA – talk about abs/leg/glute toning!), the bosu ball and light weights it truly is a FULL BODY workout.

After my first session with her, I felt muscles in my abs that had been neglected for over 5 years and two pregnancies.  I am not going to lie, it hurt to laugh because every little ab muscle was sore and my glutes were on fire. But I loved it because it felt like it was working!

We worked out at least twice a week and I noticed results FAST.  When I did my long training runs on the weekends, the next day my hip wasn’t sore and my little tweaks of pain went away.

She was able to spot my weak spots and we worked to strengthen those. In my case, I had weak glutes when meant I was compensating in my hips.  So we did a LOT of glute work!  She is super knowledgeable.

I have dabbled in all sorts of workouts throughout the years and to me the workout that has delivered the most results is pilates. Without a doubt.

And Erica is amazing. One time I was lamenting to her with a …”THIS IS SO HARD!” and she smiled sweetly and said, “I know. That’s when you see results.  I watch and see your threshold and then push you just a little more.”

Now I get it!

Every time I walked out of her workout, I felt AMAZING.  It was so hard, but all my muscles felt alive.

The workouts are not cheap but they are worth it.   But wait! Erica is going to give Tiny Oranges readers (first time clients only) some special introductory prices!

  1. I can’t say enough great things about Erica either! She truly knows what she’s doing. She has kept me motivated so much that I went from hating to sweat and NEVER working out to training on the reformer 3 x’s a week! She also got me through a funky back pain with special exercises and stretches. Love her and you will too!
