What Do Teachers Really Want?

I bow down to teachers. I don’t know how they do it. To me, it’s one of the most important jobs one can have. And it must also be one of the hardest.

We loved Emma’s kindergarten teachers this year and I want to get them something special for their end of the year gift. Something they would really love and appreciate.

I know I must have some teachers (current or former) reading this, please tell me, what do teachers really want??

Please share your most thoughtful and appreciated parent gifts.  Moms everywhere will be thanking you for taking the mystery out of the “what to get” question, and hopefully our teachers will end up with a gift they really love!

THANK YOU!

  1. As a 2nd grade teacher, the best gifts I receive are thoughtful cards telling me how I made a difference in their child’s life (or from the child saying what his/her favorite part of the year was). That being said, I agree with Julie that gift cards to places like Lakeshore where teachers can purchase materials for their classrooms (also: Target, Amazon, Barnes & Noble) are the most valuable and appreciated.

  2. Gift cards were always the best when I was teaching 5th grade! You can never go wrong with a gift certificate to Burke Williams or a local spa!!!!!

  3. My mom has been a teacher for several years and always seems to get coffee mugs! She usually ends up giving them away or leaving them in the teacher’s lounge and her home cupboards still fill up with them. She also gets a large amount of bath and body type gift sets and usually ends up giving them away. What she really appreciates are gift cards. Starbucks, Panera, Borders, Target, a local restaurant etc. are all popular choices. Anything homemade is also very special. Thanks for your appreciation for the teachers!
