Wordless Wednesday – 13.1 Miles

My Wordless Wednesday today is going to have some words.  AGAIN.  I am noticing this is a consistent problem for me. If you knew me in person this would not surprise you.

3 months ago I couldn’t run 1 mile without walking.  No joke.

This past Sunday I ran 13.1 miles in the OC Half Marathon and it was one of the coolest experiences of my life !   The people, the energy, the scenery, it was completely exhilarating!

But it was NOT easy.  In fact when I hit mile 12 I was thinking, how on EARTH can I do one more?  But one foot in front of the other and I made it.  Cranked up my iPod and just thought about seeing my family at the end.   Crossing that finish line was one of the greatest feelings ever.

My husband ran it too, his first one. He kicked butt!  I can brag a little about him because I am one proud wife! That’s my dear friend Pam in the picture who was one of the friends who inspired me to start running in the first place. She also was amazing!

I also have to give some  “shout outs” to my friends Sally M., Sally N., Kimberly, Melanie and Kristen who also ROCKED this race.    Sally M. even made a huge ORANGE sign and left it at mile 11 to cheer me on as a total surprise.  On it, she plugged “www.tinyoranges.com” too…pretty smart marketing…thanks Sal, love you!

So, who’s in it with me for next year???  I feel a Tiny Oranges team in the works with cute orange tanks….

  10. WOW! I’m so proud of you. REALLY!! So impressive. If I remember correctly, I have 7 months after the baby is born to start something like that right??

  11. Thanks so much ladies! Kara, I started training when my baby was 7 months. Didn’t do anything before 7 months. I was too tired! Best thing ever. Congrats Darra!!!!!! So happy for you!!

  12. You know I would run anywhere with you! I wouldn’t miss wearing the TO orange next year for anything. You are my inspiration! XOXO

  13. Jen, I will run it with you next year. But only if you do a Mud Run with me! I’m having this baby on August 25th, so I’ll definitely need some sort of motivator to get me back in shape ASAP. 🙂

  14. That is so awesome! I began running last November after being diagnosed with asthma. I could only run 30 seconds at a time. I’m up to 2 minutes at a time now. I will be running a 5k next month. Read about it on my blog.
