Hi there!   Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to read about my blog!

What is Tiny Oranges about?

Tiny Oranges is a fresh, fun blog featuring the (excuse the pun!) juiciest places, spaces, products, services, outings and ideas for OC moms and their tiny oranges.

Who are we?

My name is Jennifer, but most people call me Jen.  I am wife of almost 8 years and a mom to two girls, Emma (born in June 2006) and baby Morgan (born July 2009.)   They also happen to be the President and CEO of Tiny Oranges and our household.  And let me tell you, it is quite a demanding management team!

For me, motherhood has been joyous, exciting, exhausting, humbling, frustrating and exhilarating all at the same time.  I couldn’t survive without my fellow mommy friends.   When I became a mom, there was a whole new world to discover and so much to learn.   My goal was to create a fun, happy site where moms can go to get some ideas and inspiration.

How did this whole thing get started?

In a former life (before my kids turned my world upside down!) I had a wedding planning business. In the wedding industry, I had two great friends that founded this super cute wedding blog called the Wedding Chicks.  I was talking to one of the “Chicks” one day and said, “I wish I could start a blog like yours for OC moms.”  She looked at me and said, “Why don’t you??”   From that point on my wheels started spinning and the rest is history….

A little about me…

I never did the 25 random things about me for Facebook, so I thought this might be fun to let you know a little about me!

1. My mom named me Jennifer to call me Jenny.  When I was 3, I told her, “My name is NOT Jenny!”  I have been Jennifer or Jen ever since.

2. I worked at Ruby’s restaurant in college and wore a pin striped dress with suntan (excuse me, I believe they were nude, not suntan) nylons.

3. Since I worked in the “service industry” I really appreciate good service.  I have been known to call over the manager to compliment them if an employee was really great.   They always walk over with a nervous look, like I am going to complain.

4. I have started two businesses.

5. I met my husband at a bar. I thought he was really cute (still do! ) I was the first to talk to him, so technically I picked him up.

6. We have been together since the first night we met on 02.20.1998.

7. I talk to my mom almost every day.

8. My younger sister had her first baby, a boy, 4 weeks after my second.  It has been more fun than I ever imagined.

9. My first was breech.  I read only 3 – 4% of babies are breech, but I have personally known so many people with breech babies, I think that statistic is a bunch of bull!

10. Two of my best friends, my sister and I all have birthdays on the 15th.

11. I worked for 6 years in the telecom industry out of college and got to travel to all sorts of cool places.

12. My husband went to grad school in Austin.  We had a long distance relationship for 2 years before we got married.

13. When he graduated, we went on a 3 week camping trip across the Western US.  I am not a camper.  I just really liked him a lot.

14. The sound of my daughter laughing is the greatest sound I have ever heard.

15. I secretly wanted two girls and got them.  I love calling them “my girls.”

16. I think the woman that created Spanx is brilliant.  I had to attend a wedding 7 weeks post baby and felt so much gratitude for that woman.

17. I really love People magazine.  It’s my greatest mindless pleasure.

18. Of all the places I have seen, Prague was the most magical.  It almost sparkled.

19. I am a compulsive worrier and have a Type A personality.  I am a total planner.

20. I have an obsession with darling stationery, invitations and cards. Getting Christmas photo cards is my favorite part of the season!

21. I HATE to cook.  If I won the lottery, the first thing I would do is hire a personal chef.  That’s why I try to post easy recipes here!

22. I laugh a lot.  People have called my laugh “infectious.”  I have heard it on video. I call it “annoying!”

23. I LOVE reading people’s comments on my site.  It is also a little obsession.
24.  I put way too much International Delights Cinnamon Vanilla Creme in my coffee.

25. My family is the center of my entire universe.

Thanks again for taking the time to read my blog.  I hope you will pop in daily to say “hello” and check out our latest.

Please email me {jennifer@tinyoranges.com} or comment on the posts with things you would like to share or anything you want to talk about. I also hope you will join our forum to meet other moms in our Tiny Oranges community.

Motherhood is hard, but it sure is a lot more fun when shared with friends that KNOW what you are going through.  In the meantime, let’s all raise our juice boxes one and all.  This one’s for you and your own little tiny oranges!  We’re so glad you’re here!
