Read for the Record

record
Join people all over the world this Thursday, October 8th to participate in the Read for the Record in an effort to promote childhood literacy!  The mission of Read for the Record, which was started by Jumpstart in 2006, is to get children across the globe to read the same book, on the same day, in communities all over the world.

The book this year is (one of my personal favorites) The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.

The Early Literacy Program, a supported partner of the Children and Families Commission of Orange County, is supporting the efforts of Jumpstart locally to reach as many children and families in Orange County. The mission of the Early Literacy Program is to ensure that all children are healthy and ready to learn when they enter school by encouraging families and caretakers of young children to “Read Early. Read Aloud.”

How can you get involved you ask?  Let me tell It’s easy and fun!

  1. My favorite book when I was a child was “The Moster At the End Of this Book” Groover was always funny and I loved every page and turning it to the next. Now I have a two year old and I love reading to her, She gets so excited when she know what is coming next in the story. We love “Brown Bear Brown Bear” Somehow these stories never get old.

  2. My favorite childhood book was Amelia Badelia. I loved reading all of the Amelia Badelia books and having them read to me!
