Read for the Record!

I just found out about this event today (Tuesday), otherwise I would have posted earlier!  But, there are still lots of remaining times on Wednesday and Thursday this week to participate!

You can help set a World Record!  READ/Orange County and Jumpstart are teaming up with families across the nation to break the World’s Record for the most adults and children reading the SAME book on the SAME day!    This campaign was designed to bring attention to the importance of early childhood education and celebrates Corduroy’s 40th birthday with a story time, a craft and a copy of Corduroy for each family.  Emma and I went to the one at the Irvine Library on Tuesday, it was a darling event, and she loves her new Corduroy book.  It brought back so many memories for me too as it was one of my favorite books growing up!  Don’t you remember cute little Corduroy missing his button? 🙂

If you can’t make one of the story times this week, you can support the cause online by purchasing the book or click here for other ways to get involved.  100% of the book’s profits go to support Jumpstart, an organization that provides books and adult mentors to read one-on-one with low income children for a full year to help them prepare to enter school ready to succeed.

  1. This was such a cute event. Thank you for the information. The book Corduroy is just adorable, I have never read it, if you can imagine! My daughter loved it. After the reading we did a few crafts and they even gave us a paperback copy of the book! Great event, thank you for keeping us posted and keep up the fun events!
