Our Priceline Date Night

Last Christmas my parents gave my husband a “coupon” for a night out on the town and offered to take our girls for a sleepover at their house, which we redeemed this past Saturday night.  As a sort of spontaneous decision, we decided to try www.priceline.com to see if we could get a good deal to stay at a local hotel for the night.

Has anyone done Priceline before? I have to say it was pretty exciting going through the bidding and seeing where we ended up!  My husband did all the bidding – check out his tips below if you ever want to try it!

Gavin’s Story

I started Team Tiny Oranges last year because I wanted to do a charity project through my blog.

I knew I wanted it to benefit a charity that helped children, so when I heard about the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation’s (PCRF) annual Cinco de Mayo Run / Walk event which happened shortly after I posted this guest blog from a mommy reader who was a pediatric cancer survivor looking to raise awareness, I knew this was the cause I wanted to support.

I wanted the opportunity today to share the story of a mom I met last year through PCRF, Kim, and her son, Gavin.

When you are not personally affected by pediatric cancer, those words are just that, words. But what I learned through doing our team, is that behind the words, “pediatric cancer” there are countless stories of families facing this horrendous disease. Families that need our help.

It is my hope that by sharing their story today…

Morgan Law Group Free Event This Saturday

There are still a few spots open for this Saturday’s free workshop put on by Darlynn Morgan of Morgan Law Group so I wanted to let you know so you can sign up and attend!

It is free, you can bring your kids, and most importantly, you will learn more about how to get your legal stuff in order to make sure your kids would be taken care of if something were to happen to you. Darlynn is a fellow OC mommy, a total sweetheart (not pushy!) and has a passion for educating parents on what you have to do to protect your kids.

Saturday, March 17th, 2012 – 9am
Xpecting Maternity
369 E. 17th Street, #20
Costa Mesa, CA 92672

Click HERE to register online, go to the right column and enter your info.  And as a bonus, every person who registers is also entered to win a $50 gift certificate to an OC mommy/family location.

This is a topic I am very passionate about, as we didn’t go through the process of naming legal guardians and doing a trust until my oldest daughter was 3. When we finally did it and I was educated on what can happen to your children and assets if something were (God forbid) to happen to you, it scared the daylights out of me that we didn’t do it sooner. Once everything was in order, I had tremendous peace of mind knowing we got everything taken care of. I highly recommend attending this workshop and learning more…

Our Small Bathroom Makeover [Design Ideas]

The hubby and I recently finished a little makeover on our small guest bathroom so I thought it might be fun to share some before and after pictures.

I was in a bit of a quandary on what direction to go with it because it doubles as not only our girls’  bathroom but also our guest bathroom. So I called upon my good friend Jessica Bennett from Jessica Bennett Interiors to give me some ideas. Lucky for me she offered to give me some design opinions in the midst of all of her big projects. Thank you JESS!

It is really nice having a friend that is an interior designer, because I was going to make it a more cutesy-cutesy kids’ bathroom-ish but Jessica’s opinion was to make it a lovely guest bathroom which kids also happen to use.

I am glad she set me straight because I love how it turned out. I think it is tasteful and stylish for guests, yet I was also able to throw in a FEW cutesy details for my girls.

Here are my befores and afters (please excuse the weird angles and shadows, the bathroom is so tiny it is really hard to photograph!):
