Lice Lice Baby

licepost

I have been a parent now for 9 years tomorrow and in that time, I have heard endless times about lice scares. Did you hear? LICE is going around. Did you hear?! Someone has lice in the class! So much so that the question really is – when is lice NOT going around?

What’s a mom to do? Well, a germaphobe like me goes into complete phantom head itching panic. And I don’t think I am alone. The thought of it makes my skin crawl.

Both of my girls were recently exposed, and I of course, freaked out. I ended up calling an Orange County lice treatment business, OC Hair Police, to ask them what to do.

After I talked to her, I felt so much better. Neither of my girls got lice, but I just felt better having the FACTS. Which of course, always inspires a blog post.

So here are the questions I asked Frances Ward of OC Hair Police, who is a professional technician and lice consultant (PTLC).

It’s Time to Talk About Mental Health

pediatric mental health

Last month I attended a press conference at CHOC Children’s Hospital on their new Mental Health Initiative and learned some very eye-opening facts about pediatric mental illness.

The topic is an important one to me yet I have never written about it on my blog. For my entire life I have struggled with anxiety, starting as early as age 4.

But I have never really opened up about my struggles on my blog.

Grilled Pork Chops with Mango Guacamole

This grilled pork chop recipe post is Sponsored by our friends at the National Pork Board to inspire ideas for yummy pork recipes.

Grilled Pork Chop Recipe

Susanne had my family over for dinner recently and she made the most delectable grilled pork chop recipe I am ecstatic to share with you today.

Confession. Pork is not the first protein that comes to mind when I think about BBQ’ing.  When firing up the grill at our house, or when going to someone else’s house for a BBQ, we are used to the same ‘ole same ‘ole. You know, the standard. Burgers, steaks, kabobs, what have you.

However, a grilled pork chop is not only a leaner, healthier protein option, but also quite delicious. Especially when you prepare using one of Susanne’s original recipes. You just gotta try this recipe. Perfect for summer nights.

This meal inspired us to host a neighborhood party in a few weeks and “crash” the party and the ‘cue with the unexpected – grilled pork chops. Isn’t it fun to serve something a little different?  So my friends, allow me to introduce you to the party crashers…

Heartlake City Opens at LEGOLAND!

Disclosure: My family was invited to attend LEGOLAND California to preview the new Heartlake City LEGOLAND opening.

Heartlake City Legoland

Heartlake City opened last week at LEGOLAND California and LEGO Friends fans will be delighted with this sweet new addition to the theme park!

My girls and I had the opportunity to preview the new Heartlake City, located on the west side of the Park in between Fairy Tale Brook and DUPLO Village.

When we entered the Heartlake City gate we were greeted by Olivia, Emma, Stephanie, Andrea and Mia singing LIVE on the Friends Forever Stage, which rotates to provide different backdrops for the 5 – 6 different live shows per day.

Are you one of the 69% of parents at risk?

Free Kids Protection Workshop 5/30/15
hosted by Darlynn Morgan of Morgan Law Group

If you are one of the 69% of OC parents, your kids are at serious risk, and they don’t have to be.

When my oldest son was born, it was almost 2 years before my husband and I spent a night away from him. Even then, we wrote out pages of instructions on how to care for him. We listed his favorite foods, his nighttime routine, which books he liked (and which voices we used) – all for one night.

If you are one of the 69% of parents who hasn’t named guardians for your minor children, you risk leaving your children forever without the ultimate set of “babysitter” instructions.

See if this sounds familiar – You are a parent of minor children and you have thought about naming guardians and “getting a will” as one of the to-do items on a long list “hafta get it done.” And yet, it keeps slipping your mind. Maybe a celebrity death re-awakens the thoughts, but it’s hard to know where to start.

I CAN HELP.
