Fountain Valley Recreation Center & Sports Park – New!

This park and the pictures were sent to me by a local grandpa! How CUTE is that?! Ok, I have to admit, this particular grandpa happens to be my dad, therefore, the interest in contributing to Tiny Oranges :-)! Thanks dad!  Papa Norm writes…

“Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley recently announced the grand opening of its new Sports Park. This is a beautiful new facility which will be primarily used for youth baseball. Smack in the middle of the new complex is a really cool play area for families and kids, complete with benches, a HUGE new play set and fantastic super-soft rubberized deck.

Going north on Brookhurst from the 405, turn right at the 5th traffic signal which is Heil. The road turns slightly to the left. Keep going (past the “round-about”) and you’ll see the playground ahead and slightly to the right. There is ample parking right next to the playground. As a special bonus, the play area is directly adjacent to a HUGE play field which is great for the little ones to romp about. There are some bathrooms across the parking lot next to the baseball fields.

As of yet, this playground seems pretty much “undiscovered” but I’m sure word will get out quickly.  There are also tons of crushed-cinder walking trails and everything is absolutely flat. It is quite peaceful and is well away from the traffic noise on Brookhurst.  Check it out and I think you and your little ones will be pleased!”

Couple of notes from this peanut gallery:  The equipment is made for older kids.  Little ones can still have fun, just requires a little more supervision than normal!

  1. I remember playing here as a little girl. It had one of those metal merry go rounds. How did we ever survive the ’70s?

  2. Thanks Papa Norm! This is one that all 3 of my kids will love. And thanks for pointing out that there is a bathroom closeby. That’s very important!

  3. Thanks to Papa Norm for pointing this out! And thanks to Jen for posting and sending me the info. Can’t wait to give it a play.
