* Reading before bed feels like a luxury.
* You find that slowly browsing the aisles at Target, by yourself, is better than therapy.

When I first heard the title of this book, it really made me laugh out loud, because that is how I feel about ME! Before I had a child, I really thought I had it all figured out.  MY kids would never scream in the background when I was on the phone or throw a tantrum in the store.  I would simply give them “the look” and they would KNOW they needed to behave.  Then I had one, and I was in for the shock of my life! I was not prepared for my child to enter the world with her OWN spirit and opinions and strong will.   I was also not prepared for how hard parenting (or trying to parent well) would be.  It is not easy, and many times I wonder if I am doing the right thing.  Especially with discipline.  There have been many times when I felt insecure and lost and some days (you know those days, the bad ones) I have ended the day feeling completely DEFEATED.  What I loved about this book is that it looks at mothering in a really honest way.  The authors interviewed lots of other moms, and some of the things they confessed had me shouting, “I feel that way too!”  The book gives great tips on embracing modern motherhood –  mostly importantly learning to lighten up on the expections we put on ourselves, stop comparing ourselves to others, and subsequently starting enjoying it more.  A truly must read book for any modern mama.  Hey, read it before bedtime for a luxurious end to your day, and consider it therapy, much like cruising the Target aisles alone!   ðŸ™‚

  1. Yeah! We’re thrilled that you connected with the book. We’re all doing the best we can, and it’s up to us to take some of that pressure off of ourselves.

PS– our 3rd book is out in April – "I’d Trade My Husband for a Housekeeper: Loving Your Marriage After the Baby Carriage."

    Cheers!

  2. Hi Amy and Trisha!
Thanks so much for commenting! I LOVED your book. It is great to read a book that really tells it like it is and is completely relatable. It makes you feel like you are not alone. A book about marriage and the baby carriage is going to be just what the doctor ordered for the next therapy session!
    Thanks again,
    Jen
