Essential Free Workshop for Parents

see more by

Today is my daughter’s first day of Kindergarten so now that school is back in session I am sure it is finally giving many of you some time to regroup and breathe and think about things you want to accomplish this Fall.

If that is the case, if you haven’t already taken the legal steps to name guardians for your children, I hope you might have the chance to attend this free workshop hosted by Darlynn Morgan of Morgan Law Group coming up on September 20th, 2011.

Space is limited, so register early.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Darlynn in person and have worked with her for over two years as a Tiny Oranges sponsor and she is a complete doll. She is a fellow OC mom, like us, and is there to help you figure out the steps you need to take to get your legal stuff in order.

Once you do, believe me, a huge weight will be lifted.  I know it is something you have all probably thought more than once, “we should really do that” but it is one of those things that is (1.) not fun to think about and (2.) not high on the list of things you want to do.

However, have you thought of what would happen to your kids if something happened to you?  That is not fun either.  So it is better to have the peace of mind knowing your wishes are legally documented just in case.

Here is more about this upcoming free workshop:

Have You Documented Who Should Care for Your Kids if Something Happens to You?

It’s every parent’s worst nightmare—suddenly passing away and not having the opportunity to see your minor children grow up and thrive through adulthood.

And while this is indeed a heart wrenching and scary thought, have you considered what life would actually be like for your kids? Who would they stay with? What funds would be used to provide for their care? Who would manage such funds? How easy will their life be in your absence?

Fortunately, you have more control over this than you think. While it is impossible to predict when a life-threatening illness or accident may occur, as parents we CAN plan ahead to make sure our children will be raised by the people we want, in a way we want, if something unexpectedly happens.

Curious to learn how?Join OC estate planning attorney Darlynn Morgan at Move It Momma on September 20th, 2011 at 9:30am for a FREE workshop where you will learn exactly how to name legal guardians for your minor children.

Timree Art Studio’s Paint Parties, Cute Classes & Private Lessons

I had the pleasure of meeting artist Timree Gold of Timree Personalized Gifts and Art this summer at a Smarty networking meeting and I have to admit I was a little star struck as I have been a huge fan of her art and personalized gifts for years now!

When I met her in person it was easy to see why her work is so special and that is simply because Timree the person is special! She actually sparkles. From the twinkle in her eye to her bright smile and bubbly personality, to know Timree is to love her.  And when you look at her amazing, one-of-a-kind pieces you can see her happy personality shining through in every creation.

Timree shared with me that just this last year she opened an art studio in Newport Beach which has been coined the “cutest art studio ever!

When I visited the studio myself last week, I could see Timree’s magic sparkle dust all over it, from the moment you pull up and breathe in the ocean air to the enchanting walk up the good luck steps (you have to go to see the steps for yourself) you feel like you are entering another magical little world.  Visiting her studio is an experience.

There is much to cover about Timree it is hard to know where to start!  From her personalized platesunique gifts and school supplies to her custom murals and special live event painting, there are so many ways to experience her amazing work.

But for this post I wanted to highlight some very special offerings for OC moms and kids – most specifically –  Timree’s paint parties, cute classes and private art lessons.

Weekly Art Classes

Designed for ages 6 years and up, Timree offers weekly classes on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 – 5:30pm.

Starting at the beginning of the month, the weekly sessions are only $175 for 4 classes and your child will receive personalized instruction from Timree and create their own masterpiece on the provided canvas.

I think this would be such an amazing class to enroll your kids in for the Fall after school starts.

Art is so therapeutic and what a wonderful way for your kids to express and channel their creativity while while easing into the hub-bub of the busy school year.

The next session begins on September 6th, so email soon if you are interested as spots fill up quickly!

Private Lessons with TIMREE!

Timree also provides private art lessons that are only $225 for 2 hours.

During that time, Timree will sit with you one-on-one and help you or your child create a piece that holds special meaning to you.

Whether it’s a special piece of art for a bedroom wall (you can bring pictures of the decor or bedding for inspiration) or a very special one-of-a-kind piece of art for a parent or grandparent as a special gift, the goal is to embrace the fun and creativity involved in painting and walk away with a completed painting that holds personal significance.

What an amazing gift for a milestone birthday or anniversary for the person who has everything!

There is truly no better gift than one that is hand made with love and to have personalized instruction from an artist I think is incredible!

Mother / Daughter Classes

On the 2nd Sunday of each month from 2 – 4pm, mothers and daughters can attend this special class together and create their own paintings based on one of Timree’s inspired themes. Timree provides not only the canvases, tips and themed-treats – but also a special afternoon of bonding while creating.  The next class is on September 11th and the theme is “basket of apples” to celebrate back-to-school time.  Only a few spots left so sign up ASAP if you are interested! Cost is only $65/pp.

Paint Parties!

How many times have you have looked for an original venue in Orange County to host your child’s birthday party because you are tired of the same ‘ole same ‘ole?  I know I have! Now you can book your party in the cutest art studio ever and give your guests a magically creative experience.

The parties are designed to be intimate in size for 4 to 14 guests ages 6 + and include:

– 2 hours of party studio time on weekdays after school or on Sundays
– Birthday girl (or boy!) picks the theme for the painting
– Friends all paint the same picture but can get creative with their colors
– $50 per guest / $300 minimum
– BYOT (bring your own treats!)

You can also gather a group of friends for a mom’s night out!  Inquire for more details.

“Timree jeans”

For all Timree’s paint parties and classes she encourages the girls to wear special “Timree jeans” which are fun painting jeans, jean shorts or jean skirts that can get deliciously splashed with creativity.

She told me the girls love wearing their “Timree jeans” and she will personally sign the back.

This art studio is truly one of a kind. As is Timree.  She reminds me of a Disney Princess in the most flattering of ways. I guarantee your girls will be completely enchanted by her and her studio.

Newport Back Bay Outing Idea

see more by

It was a beautiful OC winter day last weekend so we decided to take our girls over to the Newport Back Bay for a walk.  It is such a great {free} family outing.

To make it more interesting we did a little scavenger hunt for Emma.  It provided SO much thrill and entertainment and it was so silly and easy to do.   The scavenger hunt is something you can do ANYWHERE and just adds a little more interest to your typical outing.

I took a spiral notebook and quickly jotted down the first 8 things that came to my head. Here was our list:

1. Dog
2. Blue car
3. Baby in stroller
4. Bunny (yes, you will usually see bunnies by the Back Bay!)
5. Flag
6. Lizard
7. Rock
8. Plane

While we were walking there, we practiced “reading” what each word said since she is starting to learn the sounds and is interested in knowing what words say.  I also brought along a little sheet of those mini-stickers so she could put a sticker next to the things that we found.

Here were the girls in their matching shades ready for departure and our scavenger hunt adventure.

The Newport Back Bay parking lot is located on the corner of University Drive and Irvine Avenue in Newport Beach. Very easy to get to and a ton of parking.

There are paved roads all around the bay, so if your kids like to bike, it’s a great place.  You will see people out there jogging, biking and exploring the little dirt trails.

If you have time, make sure to stop into the Peter & Mary Muth Interpretive Center, which is located adjacent to the parking lot.   AMAZING place for kiddos!  And it is free.  Click that link to see a previous post I did on this awesome nature center.

There is no much joy that can be found by getting outside, exploring nature and getting a little dirty!

Happy hunting!

And in case you were wondering, we were 7 for 8 on the list.  Lizards must have been sleeping.  xo

{And for a TON of nature-related OC outings, make sure to visit Fun Orange County Parks.  The go-to place for awesome outing ideas!}
